Latella Gelato - a family affair

Latella Gelato is a local, family run business owned by Erik Dietrich and Jeanie Shaffer.  The shop is dedicated to Mario and Valerie Latella, Erik's grandparents.  He wanted to honor their legacy and his Italian background.  Jeanie, Erik's wife, thought Valerie "Chicky" Latella was one feisty lady - in the best way.  Naming the shop Latella Gelato was a great way to keep it all in the family.

What is Gelato?

Think Italian ice cream.  Gelato is a creamy frozen dessert treat popular in Italy.  We also have sorbetto, a frozen treat usually made with water and fruit.  At Latella Gelato, we make all our gelato and sorbetto in store.  We like to experiment with new flavors and offer vegan and sugar free options.  Our flavors change daily so you'll never get bored. 

Who are the gelato masterminds?

Jeanie and Erik (the owners) are also the gelato masterminds.  This husband and wife team work together to create the recipes and make the gelato.  They get ideas from watching food shows, surfing the internet, talking to customers, and wandering the grocery store isles.  They love to experiment,  If you don't see them helping customers, they are usually in the kitchen playing with new recipes.
